My friend and I created the IDRC within our school many years ago when we realized how much fun it was to roll dice in AOL chatrooms with the //roll feature. After we graduated, it was forgotten until one day when I was in a chatroom with some friends and one of them used the feature. I decided to restart the IDRC, but on a larger scale. Now, there are AOL, Yahoo, Google, and MSN divisions, this official website, and an official mailing list. Hopefully the future will give the organization further growth.
When you become a member of the IDRC (meaning you have signed up for the mailing list) you are invited to join group discussions, chats, etc. about online dice rolling games. For those of you who have AIM or AOL, you may know that when you are in a chatroom, you can enter //roll and you will get a result like this:
The IDRC holds weekly AOL/AIM chats. If you want to be invited, you must join the mailing list, and give your AOL/AIM screen name. We will e-mail (or if you are online IM) you the special code to join our private chats every week. All chat dates will be on the index page, in the forum, and on the blog, so keep checking for the next one!
You must be in a chat room to see the results of the dice you wish to roll.
First - select the number of dice you wish to roll using the drop down menu. You can roll up to 6 dice at a time.
Next select the type of dice you wish to roll by clicking on the picture of that sort of dice. If the dice you wish to roll doesn't have a picture then enter the number of sides in the white box below the bottom right dice picture - that's the one with the question marks on its faces. This will allow you to roll a die with 2 - 999 sides!
Your results will be displayed in the chat room window in a line similar to:
OnlineHost: Tim rolled 1 5-sided die: 8
The Dice Roller will then be disabled for 5 seconds before you can roll again to prevent people spamming rooms.
Have fun!!!!
